Sporting ambassadors support SETE 2013

The Sports and Events Tourism Exchange (SETE) taking place from the 22-24 October 2013 at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC), aims at positioning South Africa as a sports tourism destination and for this reason, SETE has joined forces with athletes from water polo, ringball and gymnastics to become ambassadors and promote not only their sports but the importance of sports and tourism collectively.

Water polo - Kelsey White

Kelsey White, South African women's water polo captain, is the head of water polo at St Mary's School for Girls in Johannesburg and also is head of water polo at University of the Witwatersrand looking after the men's and women's teams. Kelsey's aim is to raise the profile of her sport here in South Africa and to assist players from underprivileged backgrounds to learn how to enjoy this great aquatic sport. "As an ambassador for SETE my dream of helping our society to learn and appreciate our sport runs parallel with the aim of this event," comments White.

Ringball - Wynand Zaayman

Ringball, a game similar to netball and popular with both men and women, is played in each of the provinces in South Africa. Wynand Zaayman, Ringball Treasurer emphasises ringball as a recognised sport. "Coming on board as an ambassador for SETE provides us with an opportunity to promote Ringball in South Africa as a competitive sport," comments Wynand.

Gymnastics - Dominique Mann

Senior aerobic gymnast, Dominique Mann hails from Durban, KZN has as SA's aerobic gymnastics reigning champion for the past seven years, hopes to qualify for the next World Games in 2017. "I am delighted to be a part of SETE 2013 as an ambassador and representative for gymnastics. I believe this will offer me the opportunity to further pursue my goal," says Mann.
