Sam Michel invited to serve on the grand jury

In September this year, marketer and ideas generator, Sam Michel, will join a panel of international adjudicators in judging the 2010 New York Global Awards. The Awards recognise excellence in healthcare communications the world over and have achieved the status of being regarded as one of the most coveted honour in the field of healthcare communications.

Michel - who is currently a shareholder and strategic director of Fine Healthcare, a specialist healthcare marketing and communications agency - was invited to join the panel or 'grand jury' of judges who will assess the awards.

While anchored in South Africa, Fine Healthcare is also active globally, including in countries such as Brazil, the United Kingdom, United States and UAE. The agency has a long-standing history with the New York Global Awards and has, over the past nine years, won numerous awards for campaigns, for example, Healthbridge (2001); Pfizer (2002/2008); and Reckitt Benckiser (2005/2007).

"In addition to the agency's previous Global Awards, the invitation to join this year's grand jury is a further endorsement of Fine Healthcare's ability to deliver healthcare communication solutions that compete favourably with the world's best," says Michel. "While this is certainly an accolade for Fine Healthcare, it's also good for Africa as the work emanating from our continent continues to be acknowledged globally."

Live judging session

Categories for this year's entries for the Global Awards extend over regional, national and continental boundaries and cover hospitals and education groups, in addition to advertising agencies, design studios and production companies.

2010 marks a change in the judging process for the Awards in that some judging will take place remotely. For the first time, an online panel of judges will supplement live panels, enabling judges from countries around the world to participate in the selection process. All the online judges were selected from agencies that had won medals or had final entries in last year's competition.

A live judging session will be held in New York, Chicago, London, Madrid, Melbourne, and Sydney during late September.

Says Michel, "This year's awards will highlight creative campaigns that reach consumers in the most innovative and effective ways."

Michel has extensive marketing experience, including his previous tenures as marketing director for Edgars and MTN, to name but a few of his career highlights.
