The winners of the 2019 and 2020 Corobrik Student Architecture Awards were revealed at an inaugural hybrid event hosted by the company in Johannesburg on Thursday, 10 June. The eight regional winners from each year presented their theses virtually to a panel of judges in a Johannesburg studio during two separate days in May, from where the winners were selected.
GP Greyvenstein from the Nelson Mandela University was announced as the winner for the year 2019 and Blake Smit from the same university was revealed as the winner for 2020. Senzo Mamba from the University of Johannesburg was awarded the Special Merit Award for Contribution to the Built Environment worth R25,000.

Architects and designers recently celebrated the works of Italian architect and Rossana creative director Massimo Castagna at the Norval Foundation.
The Norval Foundation is home to one of the largest private collections of South African contemporary art as well as host to key exhibitions of both local and international artists and guests came together to enjoy an evening of art, architecture, and design.
Activate Architecture recently celebrated 20 years since it first started operating on 3 January 1998. Some of the firm's highlights over the past 20 years include commissions for the original Moyo at Melrose Arch and the Forum Homini Hotel in the Cradle of Humankind. Other highlights include the Lebone II College for the Royal Bafokeng Community in Rustenburg and the SANRAL Corporate Head Office in Tshwane, which were completed in 2010 and 2012 respectively....
The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) was officially unveiled to the public at the V&A Waterfront's Silo District on Friday, 22 September 2017. The R500m project is a joint not-for-profit partnership between the V&A Waterfront and German business entrepreneur Jochen Zeitz.
Selcrete recently deployed a demo run of its technology and innovative building material by building a new house for an Ekurhuleni resident. It plans to utilise its building material to build 100,000 residential and commercial units in the City of Ekurhuleni Municipality on the East Rand of Gauteng over the next three years.
Travelstart recently unveiled its newly decorated offices at its new space at Longkloof Studios in the Cape Town CBD. Inhouse director Phillip Wyatt and senior designer Chrismari Loubser took inspiration from Nancy Meyers' comedy film The Intern for the office's interior design as was suggested by Travelstart's CEO.
