No Comment | The creative industries by their very nature employ wildly talented, creative individuals with their own idiosyncrasies - larger than life characters who become the stuff of legends and rumour. There are plenty of them behind the big names and the big campaigns and even bigger brands too. One of these was Emmie Gous, who passed away last week after a long battle with cancer. She was a true champion of this industry with her absolute dedication to the annual Pendoring Awards which showcase Afrikaans advertising, as a co-coordinator and PR; and a model for PR excellence. But most of all, she was someone who cared. Cared about this industry, cared about the people, cared about the media, cared about her family and friends. She was a wonderful character and she will be sorely missed by us all. There will still be echoes of her deep throaty laugh at Pendorings on 2 September, I'm sure.
Go well. Louise Marsland, Editor, editor@biz-community.com

Emmie Gous mourned [Louise Marsland] Emmie Gous, dynamic publicist and Pendoring Awards joint co-ordinator, died at the weekend after a two year battle with cancer. Her funeral will be held this afternoon, Wednesday, 10 August at the Andrew Murray NG Kerk in Norwood, Johannesburg, at 4pm. Emmie, who also organised the Boss of the Year competition and did publicity for the soapie, 7de Laan, will be sorely missed by this industry as her part in furthering the role of advertising excellence, particularly Afrikaans advertising, is undeniable. Tributes began pouring in over the public holiday and today.
