Show profile Hide profilePlease permit me to introduce myself. Apart from being talented, ambitious and creative, my stage name is Jonathan, my totem is Nkala, my surname is Macala and my legal name is Johnson.
I am a published playwright, actor, poet and comedian who arrived in South Africa illegally in 2003. I worked as a freelance gardener and handyman. In 2006, I met theatre director and actress Bo Petersen and we created a play about my experiences in my journey to South Africa "THE CROSSING". It is about a young man who from a situation that seems hopeless pursues a mission to achieve life in abundance.
It is a crossing of many things, borders, cultural differences, innocence, pain and joy. It is a celebration of the human spirit. My play is very portable. It is told with humor and love. It has been performed in lounges, garages, classrooms, restaurants and in theatres.
I also have poems and songs and 3 other plays.
I now have a Zimbabwean passport with a South African work permit valid for 4years.
I wish to offer a dramatic presentation to you with guests and colleagues. I believe you would find this presentation a construction contribution to deeper understanding of life in Southern Africa.
