Sean Presher
Currently medically boarded with diagnosis of Systemic Lupus Erythematosis (SLE) in need of many chronic medications to manage my severe chronic condition.
I currently suffer from a very critical chronic medical condition called Systemic Lupus Erythematosis (SLE) where my kidneys as well as my central nervous system and vasculitis of the veins in my brain are involved. Every Lupus patient presents diffirent symptoms as unique as as a person's fingerprint, thus no cure has been found for it yet. Worst of all is I am a male patient - 10 to 1 are female patients, thus males patients are rare with their own unique endocrine problems. This disease presents many other symptoms and is very life changing/limiting!
Lupus also affects the male endocrine system, meaning further cancers can also eminate from this. Some male patients, as myself develope a natural shortage of testosterone for an unknown reason, the body just does not get the levels correct! Testosterone, contrary to popular belief, medically and physically is not only there for sexual performance in men ie erectile dysfunction, but also as a whole is extremely imoortant for the total health and well-beeing of a male's body from brain to yourt toes!
Male Lupus patients often experience severe consequences as a result of very low testosterone levels. This can be aided by means of testosterone injection therapy, but it is extremely expensive for most patients to pay for. These patients have be treated chronically depending on tyheir levels but on average 3 times every 2 months or so.
An injection costs anywhere between R1500.00 and R2000.00 per shot
My concern in my specific case is that, although I am on Discovery's Classic Comprehensive option, these injections were paid for till the end of 2011, but with their new rules Discovery decided to change tgheir rules and are no longer covering this procdure! I am not sure what the other options were covering.
With the above taken into account hundreds/thousands of patients are concidering a class action against Discovery's decision in this regard.
If you are interested in getting involved with this class action suite through top lawyers in the country then please send me an e-mail including how many people in your household are affected by this testosterone cost issue to my e-mail address in the mean time till I can get a proffessional website set up whereby patients thatnare affected can view/manage/communicate their concerns. This is an expensive process, but the more patient's support the stronger/cheaper per individual the case would be.
Come on let's fight for our rights - Us Lupus patients suffer enough due to this debilitating chronic disease as it is already!
The sooner we can start getting names and contact details the better so as to ascquire the best lawyer/s available/willing to tackle this issue in court on our behalf.
