Show profile Hide profileMonique is a young Women who grew up on the dusty streets of the cape flats knows life and the need to honour and serve the community comes first on her to do list, she started as a volunteer and permanently joined an Organisation in Bridgetown August 2010, her key responsibilities were PR and communications Marketing creating an online presence and media exposure for the Organisation.
She also found her passion and worked as part of the team to educate and empower women through the use of various computer, mobile and social technologies through facilitating training in the Academy; and also manages a startup called She's the Geek in the RLabs Innovation Incubator.
She's the Geek aims at equipping Vulnerable women who were once abused and at risk the opportunity to learn free of charge to become tech savvy and embrace the world of tech and use the power of the internet to better their lives through digital storytelling.
Monique has a heart for the community and brings her selfless enthusiasm to help others grow and achieve their goals.
The Four words that her team members at her organization she works at used to describe her are: Dreamer, Reliable, Helpful, Focused
Life Outside
Monique is a Mom and Wife and loves the outdoors so much that she spends her weekends in the Mall. She is a born again Christian and member of Impact Direct Ministries, her interests are Gadget's, Movies and watching Sports.
Monique has achieved numerous accolades for the past few years namely becoming a top SA Blogger in the Tech and Science Category, successfully graduating from Cape Peninsula University of Technology in the Social Media for Social Change programme as well as completing a course through UCT in Online Marketing. She has received numerous requests to speak at conferences and also be interviewed on National tv, local newspapers and influential magazines agencies to showcase the amazing work she is doing with she's the geek in the community.
