×I am an Economist, recently working as a Researcher/Lecturer at Wits University's Research into Education and Labour (REAL) . I am currently doing a PhD on the Economics of Climate Change, with a special emphasis on vocational and higher education institutions and the Renewable Energy manufacturing sector.
After working in the public sector (at all 3 spheres of government) in senior management/executive positions for 20 years, I have returned to academia (where I started my career as a lecturer in the Economics Department at Wits University, after attaining a Masters degree cum laude). It is my intention to spend my remaining years working towards the existential imperative of transforming the global economy into a green economy, in order to preserve planet earth for future generations. Critically, 'sustainable development' means intergenerational equity and the current global economic trajectory is placing the future of humankind on a collision course. I intend to pursue this objective through research, teaching and advocacy in cooperation with other academics, civil society organisations, private sector players and government officials who share my passion and vision.
