I am a 27 year old female who matriculated with University Exemption and excelling in English and Business Economics. I then went on to complete my Diploma in Public Relations and Marketing at Varsity College, where I graduated as Top student. I have over nine years experience in various Marketing and PR positions at management level and through the line. At the same time as this I studied Make-up artistry and have been doing this on a freelance basis where possible ever since.
I am completely proficient in all Microsoft Office Programs. I also have extensive experience with Pastel, various design programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Gimp. I have thorough experience in Web and P.R 2.0 as well as online and social marketing and have managed and run all SEO, PPC, Analytics etc for a number of online B2B communities as well as CMS websites for both the companies I have been employed by and for external clients.
Introduction
I am creative and outgoing, have been credited as having excellent writing skills, enjoy communicating, researching and brainstorming within a team and alone and thrive on implementing these ideas successfully and ensuring the entire team I am responsible is working to the best of their ability - I will not present until I am 100 percent happy with the work done. I am fair but firm with those working either in conjunction with me or in a less senior position and will always help them to the best of my ability, I don't however let people waste my time and hand in work which is poorly thrown together and not up to mine and the companies standards.
The majority of my working experience has been CRM based and I have been the main point of contact with all clients. I have been involved with and responsible for, the branding, strategy, awareness and recall of my own product, Raw Coatings cementitious wall and floor coatings. the branding of in house and white labeled brands and FMCG products for the likes of ABSA, Volkswagen, Nedbank, General Motors, MTN, Vodacom, SABC, MB Technologies, Coca Cola, Markex, FTV, Phillips, Nokia, Gary Kay Make-up and REAL Jewellery.
I have four years Senior Events Management experience. In these positions I was responsible for the entire events process from strategy, pitching, implementation, CRM and Invitation process right down to the actual Pr Packs, Registration Process, Catering, Entertainment, Set-up etc.
On the other side of the scale I thoroughly enjoy and feel I am good at working with numbers, budgeting, researching and reporting on my findings. I enjoy researching and compiling charts, graphs, reports, strategies, budgets and trends and presenting these to my colleagues, superiors or clients.
I ran and successfully grew an online community in to be one of the largest B2B online communities in Southern Africa using through the line marketing channels, online and viral campaigns and by forming alliances and relationships with the heads of the associations in this space as well as JVs and TEA's with traditional media houses. I was responsible for this in the IT, Fashion and Wellness industry.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
My Background information and experience:
Following my studies I decided to start my own business as I had sourced a cementitious based wall and floor coatings factory from which I could acquire the product and re brand and market it. I was successful in this endeavor and ran all aspects of the business from research to training of contractors and employees, implementation of a marketing and media plan, creation of brand awareness and recall as well as management of a team of 10 employees and various outsourced contractors. This business gave me the ability to use my Marketing and Pr background as well as to enhance by business acumen and analytical skills as I was fully responsible for all financials, budgeting and analysis. I had to close this business as the chemist passed away and the factory could not run without his expertise. I then moved into the Marketing and Media planning space for a Golfing company, on a freelance basis, and was responsible for through the line Golf marketing activities, implementation and reports for clients and consumers such as ABSA, Cloud 9, MTN, and Old Mutual, this was followed by a two year position in the events industry, first as a Senior Events Manager for Outlaw Events working on the entire conceptualization, pitching, brainstorming, arranging, implementing and reporting on events such as The Volswagen Constellation Truck Launch, the opening of several General Motors stores and The Nedbank Blue Train Durban July Experience. My second experience of events came when I was appointed as the Marketing, Media, Client Relations, Brand and events Manager for FTV. This position involved more then just the daily running of events and functions and included responsibilities such as quarterly marketing and media plans, status meetings, working with various brands to ensure they were positioned in accordance with their own overall strategy by co-branding with FTV, ensuring Brand Awareness for FTV through promotional activity, print and radio commercials, Public Relations and eMarketing. As a result of my love for all things technical and creative I moved on to a position at Marketel as their Marketing and Media Manager working with clients such as Vodacom, the SABC and Coca Cola to use mobile marketing as a form of advertising as well as a way to ensure an ROI on this advertising through the re-imbursements made by service providers. Various channels where researched and explored and again dependant on the overall Brand strategy, a SMS, MMS, IVR or VOIP campaign was conceptualized, implemented and reported on. I thoroughly enjoyed this position however I had to resign due to moral reasons as Hustler was an important client and felt I could no longer compromise on my beliefs. Staying in the technical and Digital environment I found myself at The Virtual Works, a company which builds and maintains CMS websites as well as various online marketing campaigns and the development of niche online Web 2.0 B2B industry communities. This position gave me the opportunity to use my CRM, creative, writing, technical, reporting and presentation skills, but the position was soured by the fact that the technology I had to market and analyse was full of bugs which the technical team were unable to fix - baring in mind I drew up a project line and arranged weekly status meetings.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Conclusion:
I have strong leadership, marketing, events, organisational, communications, creative and administrative skills. I also feel my extrovert personality is a key strength in dealing with clients as I am able to communicate effectively and maintain good relationships. I take complete pride in my work and even though it is not uncommon for unexpected obstacles to occur in the any industry I will always ensure I do my best to overcome these obstacles in the best possible way and to the best of my ability. I work best when I have a heavy workload and I strive under stressful conditions. I am also at a stage in my life where I have very few responsibilities and have decide to concentrate on the growth of my career as I have always been highly ambitious and competitive. I am able to work on, and manage projects independently or within a team; I have always had wonderful relationships with my colleagues and clients from the tea lady to the Board of Directors. I have always believed these relationships to be incredibly important as I believe one is able to gain knowledge as well as help and enhance the skills of any individual our paths cross. Being able to grow within a company is extremely important to me.
I believe every position I have filled has been vital in my growth and experience as I have an abundance of experience in vast and unrelated fields and in these positions I have had to teach myself an incredible amount as there was no one to spoon feed me. I also absolutely believe in job satisfaction and so am looking for my next position to be a permanent fix one where I can blossom and grow in the company to my full potential. Life is about taking risks because the reward I will ultimately receive by taking the risks, of leaving a permanent and stable position and waiting for the perfect job will be well worth it.
Should you consider my skills, management style, experience and personality to be valid for this or any other applicable vacancy you have listed please do not hesitate to contact me. I would absolutely appreciate the opportunity to meet with you and discuss these options.
Sincerely,
Jo-Anne Bayvel
