×I am freelance writer based in the Cape Town and Hermanus areas, although not limited to those areas.
I focus on news / journalism stories, magazine-type articles, blogging, web copy, travel writing, although not limited to only these genres - it really depends on what the clients requires.
Contact me if you need a writer. I take pride in my work, love the English language and approach my work with clients in a professional manner.
WHAT I DO:
While writing is my main focus, I have found that social media management has become a useful skill and service to acquire, not only to promote one's profile as a writer, but also to offer as an additional service to clients.
One of the clients I currently work with is a local shop in Hermanus as marketing coordinator, a role that includes some digital marketing (facilitating the setting up of website, managing social media), writing copy for advertorials in two local Hermanus magazines and other marketing activities.
WHY YOU SHOULD HIRE ME:
If English isn't your first language or you find it difficult to string a decent sentence together (lets face it - everyone has their talents and gifts and writing may not be yours), you should consider hiring a professional writer to craft a well-written message which packs more of a punch with your audience. I've always had a love and flair for writing. It was something that just came naturally to me. Some people are good with numbers (that's not me!), I'm good with words.
My background is quite varied. My qualifications include a 3-year national diploma in Public Relations. I have worked in Personal Assistant roles which sharpened my admin and organisational skills and involved a fair amount of event planning.
My last 'formal' job was as a Brand Manager in the Marketing Department at the Spur Group. I was responsible for Local Store Marketing which involved working closely with franchisees to fulfill their marketing needs. This included taking briefs, briefing the design studio to design artwork, liaising with the franchisee, designer, copywriter, traffic manager and production manager. This was a highly pressurised position with fast turnaround times.
I left Spur in April 2012 to pursue a career as a freelance writer.
