Work Experience
Lithium (1992-1999)
After completing the course at The Art Director's Workshop in Cape Town in 1993, I became a full time musician singing and playing guitar in a band called Lithium for seven years. I designed the band's logo and some of the CD artwork and T-shirts over the years. Musical highlights included supporting Iron Maiden on their SA tour and participating in the infamous "BandSlam" tour along with local legends Springboks Nude Girls, Squeal, Sugardrive and Nine.
Crew-U and HappySmiley Industries (1996-1999)
In 1996 I began working for a company called Crew-U doing "Roadie" work for all the big concerts and events in and around Cape Town. After less than a year I became a Crew Leader in charge of motivating and co-coordinating large numbers of people. I also designed the company Logo and work T-shirt.
MegaVox (1999-2000)
Move from Cape Town and began working at a CD store at the Randburg Waterfront called MegaVox. After six months there I was promoted to Shift Manager in charge of the running of the shop during the shifts I worked and doing the cash-up at the end of the day.
iLAB Project Services (2000)
Wanting to focus more on my design career, and with a growing interest in the Internet, I was sponsored by a company called iLAB Project Services to study the art of web design at Damelin. I designed their first web site as "payment" for the course.
Pearzoo Marketing (2000-2006)
I began working full time as a web designer for Pearzoo Marketing in August 2000. Whilst working there I furthered my knowledge of the industry by doing the Web Programming and Development course at Van Zyl & Pritchard and the Flash course at Vega. During my six years at Pearzoo, my designs helped to secure ongoing business relationships with many high-profile clients such as Nashua and Revlon.
MoreGolf (2006-2012)
I secured a position at MoreGolf as the Web coordinator in 2006. My duties there began with the complete re-design of 6 company websites, as well as the design, production and delivery of HTML communications for all the holding company's businesses.. I have also been responsible for the development of social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter) for some of the core business groups. I continued the design side through the development of web banners (both static and animated) as well as advertising slider graphics for the various company web sites.
Worth1000 (2006-Current)
Worth1000 is an image manipulation and contest website. With over 7000 registered artists in the Advanced Photoshop Effects Arena, I am currently ranked 15th in the world.
