First, Some Background on POPAI
Point of Purchase Advertising International was founded in 1936 and is the only global, non-profit, trade association exclusively dedicated to the retail marketing industry - believing marketing at retail to be a powerful advertising medium when integrated into the strategic marketing mix, as retail programs deliver a combination of brand messaging and information at the critical moment of the consumer purchase decision. POPAI SA launched in 2007, and the SA Awards 2011 recognised, for the first time, excellence in point-of-purchase advertising displays and in-store communication activity produced and placed in South Africa.

We were asked to create POS that consumers could interact with, while giving the feel of a Juke Box. If you're going to do a promotion in bars, you need something that is not only going to grab attention with a rewarding prize, but provide a platform for your customers to engage with your brand. This is more important in the long run than just increasing sales 'one night only.' With that in mind we took the initiative to print beyond usual scratch cards, push the boundaries, and try something different. We also had to ensure the mechanisms worked in such a way that correct redemption rates were achieved.

  • Buying a Hansa gets the customer an opportunity to interact with the Juke Box and stand a chance to win

Fishwicks wins Gold and Silver

When Castle Lite launched their new 440ml can, we were asked to create a 'dynamic' FSU that would disrupt traffic and bring attention to the new 440ml Can. It was up to us to really shout it out and draw the attention it deserved. We didn't feel that it was enough to just 'disrupt' passing traffic; we wanted traffic to stop dead in its tracks to take notice. We designed it to be in-line with the 'Extra Cold' positioning that Castle Lite's above the line campaign had worked so hard to achieve. We felt this FSU showcased our versatility, aptitude for innovation, and our ability to add value that exceeds clients' expectations, while keeping within budget of course.
