Skywise to fly Matric class of 2014 during maiden flight

Skywise, South Africa's newest low-cost airline, will be flying the passing Matric class of 2014 from Khamane High School, which includes school children who were adopted by the Thembekile Mandela Foundation, as part of its maiden flight taking place in February.

The company will be making its first flight on 11th February 2015, a significant date as it was on this day 25 years ago that former President, Nelson Mandela, was released from prison after 27 years.

Tabassum A. Qadir, Co Chairperson at Skywise, said: "We wish to congratulate the matric class of 2014 for their achievement of a 75.8% matric pass. It is these young learners who are the future of South Africa and our next generation of leaders and we are pleased to play a role in celebrating their success, as we too celebrate the launch of Skywise."

The Thembekile Mandela Foundation was founded by Ndileka Mandela, the first grandchild of Nelson Mandela, to promote and sustain his legacy through programmes targeted at improving education and health throughout communities in the country.

"We are very pleased to be able to assist the Thembekile Mandela Foundation and the worthy work it continues to do in the name of Madiba. With our maiden flight we are marking the freedom of the skies by hosting the upcoming leaders of South Africa," concludes Qadir.
