Produced in 1983 and taught in schools around the world, ‘My body’, a song originally developed as part of a sexual abuse prevention programme, has been given a reboot to raise funds against women abuse in South Africa. The new track features artists including Lira, Juliet Harding from GoodLuck, Mariechan, who rose to fame as one third of the girl group, Jamali, and Gigi LaMayne. All funds raised from the streaming of 'My Body' will be donated to the 1st for Women Foundation for its ongoing fight to end woman abuse....

Babies grow rapidly. In fact, they outgrow up to seven sizes within the first two years of their lives – contributing to a mammoth amount of clothing waste. In the United Kingdom, one-third of parents throw out their baby’s clothes, which often end up in landfills. “It’s the ultimate fast fashion that no one is talking about,” entrepreneur Eve Kekeh says. Grabbing a vertical pole with hands stretched wide, Johannes ‘Timo’ Gunther braces himself and lifts his body parallel to the ground, forming a perfect human flag. Somewhere above him, Phelelani Ndrakrokra is suspended upside down, loving life. Both high-flying performers know what it means to fall. Gunther, a pole acrobat, ran away from his Namibian home seeking a fresh start in Cape Town. Ndrakrokra, a wheel artist, was born to a single mother living on the streets. They both have found a home at Zip Zap Circus through its Dare to Dream project. The programme looks to help people from all walks of life realise their dreams through circus art. By the age of nine, Fatima Sydow had found her calling in food. It was inevitable. She grew up immersed in the aromatic preparation of large family meals, oscillating between her grandmother’s vegetable garden and her mom’s kitchen. “It was my mother who brought me closer to understanding food as an important part of my identity,” Sydow says. Siya Kolisi, John Smit, Jean de Villiers, Corné Krige, Bryan Habana and Percy Montgomery recently took up the South African Rugby Legends Association's #Rugbyunites charity challenge by distributing bags of food that were shopped and packed by themselves at SuperSpar Rosmead in Cape Town. The bags were distributed to three charities including Stepping Stones Sport, Unchain the Plain and Safe House Stellenbosch.

It took 61 volunteers, 376 hours, 100 social entrepreneur stations feeding more than 67,000 meals, plus bags of warmth to make Mandela Day a huge success for ChangeMakersHub.

DHL Stormers players Siya Kolisi, Steven Kitshoff, Scarra Ntubeni, Damian Willemse, Dillyn Leyds, Nama Xaba, Kwenzo Blose, and Chris van Zyl visited the Neighbourhood Old Age Home (NOAH) in Woodstock, Cape Town on 4 June to unpack 1,354kgs of food that was delivered by Pick n Pay's Feed the Nation campaign. Pick n Pay and the DHL Stormers have partnered to help create awareness and raise funds for Pick n Pay's Feed the Nation campaign, which is supporting hundreds of vulnerable communities in lockdown. Each Stormers player has personally donated and collectively they've donated over R50,000 towards Feed the Nation, which to date has raised R52.2m....

Pick n Pay has given food hampers to vulnerable schoolchildren during the lockdown as part of its Feed the Nation campaign. A total of 15,316 hampers have been donated that equates to 1.7 million meals. The hampers included fresh vegetables, rice, maize meal, baked beans, oil, pilchards, sugar beans and milk powder. One-hundred-and-two schools across eight provinces have been assisted to date. The schoolchildren are identified through the retailer's Pick n Pay School Club....

A South African National Parks (SANParks) initiative led by SANParks CEO Fundisile Mketeni distributed food parcels and water tanks to vulnerable communities bordering Marakele National Park in Limpopo.

Growing children need to eat. But as unemployment continues to soar in South Africa, more families are pushed below the breadline and into extreme poverty. The groans of young learners amplify, eating away at their concentration, productivity, and health. Without nourishment, they are starved of a bright future. Coming from a poverty-stricken household, Yasmine Abrahams was far too familiar with this indelible ache. “I know what it's like to be hungry and I don’t want any kid to feel that,” she says. Members of the Entrepreneurs' Organisation (EO) and their friends and families took part in a special spekboom tree planting ceremony at the site of the Great Labyrinth near Klapmuts on 7 March. Proceedings began with a word from premier Alan Winde. President of EO Cape Town, Waheed Adam, says: "It is our responsibility as business leaders and good citizens to be mindful of our carbon footprint. As an organisation, we've embarked on a campaign to raise awareness about climate change and inspire local entrepreneurs, business leaders and citizens to help reduce our nation's carbon emissions."...

Puseletso Mabote bows his head and braces himself. His breath is measured but his determination is at full blast. Competing in the World Para Athletics Junior Championships is a momentous opportunity. Sweat drips from the runner’s forehead. The gun fires and Mabote leaps into action.
