Beauty Without Cruelty calls for cage-free policy
In March 2016, Beauty Without Cruelty called for the end of hen suffering by committing to a petition for a cage-free policy to be adopted by Mcdonalds SA. United Front 4 Animals (UFA), OWL, South African Faith Communities' Environment Institute (SAFCEI) and Animal Voice, the official South African representative of Compassion in World Farming, added their voices to the campaign. The Mcdonalds franchises based in the US and Canada have already begun to phase out battery-cage use in their supply chain enterprises which have been beneficial to the hens that produce eggs for their consumers. Mcdonalds SA is yet to adopt this policy....

SASKO spreads the goodness for Mandela Day
To commemorate the 67 years of Mandela's life spent fighting for equality, The SASKO team joined many South Africans on Monday 18 July 2016 in donating 67 minutes of their time to help others. The SASKO team mobilised their head office and all 12 of their bakeries across the country with one purpose in mind: To yield their butter knives while making sandwiches and share the goodness in honour of Nelson Mandela. The bakeries spent the morning spreading joy with the SASKO bread truck delivering lunch, on what also marked day one of the new term at primary schools - where poverty and hunger is still a big problem in education. More than 16,000 sandwiches were distributed from 21 SASKO depots around the country and participating bakeries delivered to Early Childhood Development Centres and Churches in their surrounding communities....

SASKO Siyasizana Daycare Project
In September 2015, SASKO launched its SASKO Siyasizana Daycare Project to assist daycares in Tembisa in receiving much-needed items for their facilities. In five months, 350 participating daycares collected 300,000 SASKO bread bags. To acknowledge their hard work and perseverance, SASKO awarded 1,385 prizes at the first Prize Giving on 10 March 2016.
