Tiger Brands South Africa recently announced the launch of its latest online culinary platform, Add A Twist, at a star-studded soiree at the Cradle Boutique Hotel. The launch event was hosted by television personality and chef, Lorna Maseko, and was attended by social media stars Melody Molale and Tshepi Vundla, celebrity cook Chef Nti and content creators including Siyanda Bani and Jessica van Heerden.

Casual clothing and accessories brand, Gap, has re-entered the South African market with the opening of a new store at The Mall of Africa in Johannesburg on 3 December. The store opened its doors on 26 November and the launch event, featuring various journalists, influencers and personalities including LeeAnne Dlamini, PatOnBrands, TK Matakanye and Lwandile Makhaza, followed a week later. Western Cape Premier Alan Winde visited Tuffy's manufacturing plant in Stikland, Cape Town on 23 November. The premier's visit highlighted the challenges posed by plastic waste and particularly the advancement of the Green Economy on the government's agenda. Nokwethaba Mchunu was always drawn to the power of fashion. She watched as dazzling outfits imbued women with unfettered confidence. But when Mchunu scoured retail stores for a garment that would give her the same feeling, she couldn’t find one. “Wearing the usual plus-size clothing felt disempowering,” she says. Unwilling to hide herself, Mchunu unfolded a bundle of rich material and began stitching something that celebrated every part of her being. “If we want to feel good, we make the clothes to make that happen,” Mchunu says. Siya Kolisi, John Smit, Jean de Villiers, Corné Krige, Bryan Habana and Percy Montgomery recently took up the South African Rugby Legends Association's #Rugbyunites charity challenge by distributing bags of food that were shopped and packed by themselves at SuperSpar Rosmead in Cape Town. The bags were distributed to three charities including Stepping Stones Sport, Unchain the Plain and Safe House Stellenbosch.

Puma South Africa recently opened a new retail store in Cresta Shopping Centre, Johannesburg, Gauteng. This is the footwear and apparel company's seventh store to open in Gauteng and will allow shoppers to shop footwear, apparel and accessories as well as running, training, football and performance gear.

DHL Stormers players Siya Kolisi, Steven Kitshoff, Scarra Ntubeni, Damian Willemse, Dillyn Leyds, Nama Xaba, Kwenzo Blose, and Chris van Zyl visited the Neighbourhood Old Age Home (NOAH) in Woodstock, Cape Town on 4 June to unpack 1,354kgs of food that was delivered by Pick n Pay's Feed the Nation campaign. Pick n Pay and the DHL Stormers have partnered to help create awareness and raise funds for Pick n Pay's Feed the Nation campaign, which is supporting hundreds of vulnerable communities in lockdown. Each Stormers player has personally donated and collectively they've donated over R50,000 towards Feed the Nation, which to date has raised R52.2m....

Pick n Pay has given food hampers to vulnerable schoolchildren during the lockdown as part of its Feed the Nation campaign. A total of 15,316 hampers have been donated that equates to 1.7 million meals. The hampers included fresh vegetables, rice, maize meal, baked beans, oil, pilchards, sugar beans and milk powder. One-hundred-and-two schools across eight provinces have been assisted to date. The schoolchildren are identified through the retailer's Pick n Pay School Club....

Hostex 2020 was a hospitality industry expo that took place in early March at Sandton Convention Centre. It gathered over 5000 visitors to connect with more than 200 producers, manufacturers and distributors of hospitality-related products and services.
