Friday, 9 November 2012, saw the first phase launch of Cecilia Square, the prestigious new commercial office development adjacent to the Paarl Mall on the N1.

The Brand Council of South Africa (BCSA) held its "Fight Night" debate at the TBWA Auditorium in Sandton on 25 October, where the controversial issue of free pitching was unpacked. The pitching controversy centres on the question of whether creative agencies need to produce unpaid creative strategies and ideas in order to secure the client, when other professions secure work on their track record, credentials and reputation.

Once again, exhibition designers Scan Display planned, set up and broke down this year's Design Indaba Expo.

Internationally renowned Australian Lego artist Nathan Sawaya created a large installation art piece, measuring about two metres high, at the Design Indaba conference, 29 February-2 March 2012. He demonstrated the collective power of great design as part of Absa's campaign for the 2012 Design Indaba.

The future of South African design looked especially bright this year at the 2012 Design Indaba Expo, with a high standard of craftsmanship and design from both the seasoned and Emerging Creatives sectors.

The 2012 Design Indaba Conference, which opened on Wednesday, 29 February 2012, took place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre until 2 March 2012.

The shortlist of the 10 most-beautiful objects in South Africa over the past year has been selected by lineup of design journalists and cultural commentators for Design Indaba's 2012 Most Beautiful Object in South Africa (MBOISA) award.

Art of Design was launched nationally during June 2011 to a record number of guests.

ABSOLUT Vodka, once again showcased its marketing genius and ability to pay tribute to contemporary culture at the the 2011 ABSOLUT VISI Designer of the Year Awards.

On 24 February 2011 an exhibition of some of South Africa's most important and prestigious female artists was launched at the acclaimed Barnard Gallery in Newlands. After a string of successful solo exhibitions, Christiaan Barnard decided to invite three of South Africa's internationally acclaimed female artists to present 'Self Conscious Reflections'. Pamela Stretton, Eris Silke and Lyndi Sales all collaborate for the first time to showcase a selection of their works both from the past and present which will be on show until 13 April 2011....
