Despite the recession, cinema attendance at Ster-Kinekor has risen by 877,720 when comparing October 07 - September 08 vs. October 08 - September 09, according to Cinemark, the advertising sales arm of Ster-Kinekor and official custodian of South Africa's cinema attendance figures. Jenni Critchfield, CEO of Cinemark comments, “The rising attendance figures, in conjunction with a smaller percentage of people expected to spend money travelling during the holidays, means we are looking forward to a highly successful end to 2009 in terms of cinema advertising and audience numbers.”
