Awareness campaign reduces road deaths
Deaths on South African roads during the month of December was 10% lower than last year, despite a 5 to 6% increase in traffic. The Department of Transport ascribes the lower death toll to a combination of law enforcement and increased awareness generated by a nationwide radio and television advertising campaign.
