The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), in the interests of preserving their reputation for impartiality, has banned its journalists and presenters from writing newspaper columns. According to Director of News, Richard Sambrook, when BBC journalists write in papers it is seen as an extension of their work for the BBC. One of the journalists affected is veteran war correspondent and World Affairs Editor John Simpson.
