New DStv culinary channel

BBC Worldwide has launched BBC Food, a culinary channel broadcast across the whole of Africa through Multichoice, but with its key market on the DStv platform in South Africa. Says MD of Oracle Airtime Sales, Peter McKenzie, "There is no doubt that a place exists on the DStv bouquet for a dedicated food channel. Carlton Food Network and Taste enjoyed enormous support from South African audiences, with as much as 50 per cent of the traffic to their website originating from here. The demise of Taste in the UK left a gap in the DStv channel line-up here in South Africa, but BBC Food will more than compensate."
