The Archival Platform, a non-profit networking, advocacy and research initiative in South Africa, has sent an appeal to arts and culture minister Lulu Xingwana over issues surrounding South Africa's archives and heritage. Its latest campaign, ‘Letters to Lulu,' emphasises issues such as a lack of strategic thinking about the sector, under-funding and understaffing of archives and an inconsistent approach among officials to applying heritage laws and digitising heritage records.
