When the times get tough and client purse strings are shortened, Ogilvy Johannesburg comes up with ideas that are not expensive, but still transcend the ordinary. The peep show idea was presented to Exclusive Books and the bookseller embraced it wholeheartedly as a unique way of selling its biographical books.
Ogilvy Johannesburg Fran Luckin says Exclusive Books had noticed a decline in sales of its biographical titles as a result of the recession. "The peep show idea was seen as an impactful way to draw the attention of consumers to the biography section and boost sales," she says.
The peep show takes the forms of massive headshots of various celebrities with peepholes in the centre their foreheads. A peek into these peepholes gives passers-by a taste of what really goes on inside these colourful characters' heads.
