Virgin Active's angels lend a helping hand
As 35 000 cyclists braved Cape Town's scorching heat to complete the Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour on Sunday, 11 March 2012, 40 Active Angels on Suikerbossie hill were on hand to offer a much needed push as cyclists geared up for the last stretch to the finish line.
The Active Angels, made up of Virgin Active staff, brought a festive atmosphere to the last 16 kilometers of the race which is also known as one of the most difficult stages of the ride. Donning red angel wings, the staff chanted, clapped and danced in support to keep the cyclists' morale high and helped with the last little push up the notorious hill.
PR and sponsorship manager for Virgin Active, Chantel Rall, says the look on the cyclist's faces when passing through was priceless.
