    Background ad music

Why do ad agencies use the same background music that was used in another ad, while a consumer clearly identifies the music with the product that used the music initially?

There is a new ad that has just been introduced on tv of a pool cleaner. It has background music that goes 'I'm just a gigolo...'. There is guy who is cleaning the pool and there are all these beautiful ladies that are watching him.

What I don't understand is that the same music was used for a very famous ad for a cellphone company and consumers clearly identify the ad with the cellphone company. How I got to realise this could be a potential problem is that the ad started playing and I was not watching the screen, I looked up expecting to see the cellphone ad but it was not the ad I expected that was playing.

My question is why do ad agencies do this, is it good for the profitability of the company they are advertising for?
