Restaurant ads that blind on sight

The shocking quality of restaurant ads on TV.

I was amazed when I first viewed the new Dros ad, amazed by the quality, or lack thereof, to say the least. The ad is probably among the 5 worst ads I have ever seen. Everything about the ad was wrong, concept, production, acting, script etc. The food looked unappetizing and the waiter's Afrikaans was a joke. It was so bad I thought I would go blind if I were to watch it again.

I am not working in the advertising industry, so maybe I am wrong, but as a consumer this was absolutely shocking and I will not go near a Dros in the near future based singularly on that ad. Call me crazy but anyone with such a dodgy ad (and logo, jeez that neon green thing at the end) comes across as settling for inferior products. And if this is the case then how can the food be up to standard?

To add to my horror I also noted the KEG ad, which must have been produced by the same company as it was utter crap as well. And the Saddles ad, where the guy tries to be a master chef and burns all the food, also definitely not lagging far behind the other two.

Is this a trend in our restaurant advertising industry, trying to make common ads for common people? I am not an expert but I can tell you as an average joe, I am not impressed and to answer Dros's statement "Because you can't get enough of a good thing" it first has to be GOOD and at the moment it sucks.....
