Disney and Deezer to stream music, animations
The joint service will be launched in France and Deezer, which has operations in 182 countries, is in discussions to extend it into other markets, said a spokesman for the French group.
Under the terms of the agreement, Deezer has created a space dedicated to Disney music through an application available online and via mobile phones, which will also include games.
The service will offer classic tunes from Disney and Pixar films, as well as soundtracks from television series shown on the Disney Channel and Disney Junior channels, films from Disneynature and also a video zone listing clips from artists on the Disney Channel.
It will include, for example, the French version of Disney's latest success, "Frozen" and songs from the series Violetta, shown on the Disney Channel.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We are proud to be associated with Disney. Above all, this is a partnership of two powerful entertainment brands," Simon Baldeyrou, Chief Executive of Deezer France, said.
Jean-François Camilleri, Chairman of The Walt Disney Company France, said that the partnership reflected the company's desire to respond to "young people's new methods of media consumption but also a wish to display and facilitate access to music" created by the group.
