    Centre to hold fourth National ICT Innovation Contest

    According to Tewodros, the criteria for accepting and screening applicants proposals, the software innovations and solutions are expected to contribute to the country's socioeconomic development or meet strong market demand that would in the long run indirectly contribute to the advancement of ICT use and development in Ethiopia

    Ethiopia ZTE Deputy CEO Zhang Jintao on his part said: "Our partnership with ICT centre of excellence in this competition is an extension of our long-term tangible commitment to Ethiopia and it is a pleasure to be part of the 4th ICT competition."

    According to the Centre, over 450,000 Birr and other prizes, of which 75,000 Birr will go to the first winner, have already been readied.

    In a press conference held at Hilton Addis yesterday, Centre Director Tewodros Mebratu said the annual National ICT Innovation Contest is expected to provide a platform for contestants and finalists to promote their works nationally and internationally.

    He further said that the contest is aimed at raising the participation of women in ICT who are very under- represented in the industry by having a women-only category in the national ICT innovation contest in addition to the general competition open for both men and women.
