On fears employers in Egypt would respond to the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression by slashing jobs, the government revealed this week new measures to bolster a number of labor-intensive industries.
However, as a batch of warning signs indicate the world remains trapped in the throes of a sharp economic slowdown, some analysts forecast 2009 will cut a substantial swathe of wreckage through Egypt's job market.
