Mia Telecoms introduces Samsung Ubigate iBG series in sub-Saharan Africa

It enables network infrastructure by converging routing, switching and security into a single platform including Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

According to Mia Telecoms, Samsung's Ubigate iBG series routing performance is 43 - 100% higher than any competitive product and its firewall performance ranges between 54 - 122% higher than any competitive product.

It provides carrier-class routing, including MPLS, large switching port-density, unified threat management, and VoIP features. The Ubigate iBG series supports both analog and digital voice interfaces, as well as IP telephony.

Mia Telecoms managing director Bryan Driessel says, "While data and voice convergence is in full swing, wired and wireless convergence is beginning to gather momentum. We see incredible opportunities to address the new growing market, where a single converged network providing voice, data, and video over any access medium is increasingly becoming wireless. In fact, taking historical technology advancements as evidence, all access to the network will be done wirelessly in the near future..."

The Ubigate iBG series product line is available in four different models, the iBG2006, iBG2016 and iBG 3026 are designed for small to medium-size businesses or branch offices of larger organisations. While the iBG3026 is designed for medium to large sites (300 people office), the iBG2016 (50 - 200 people office) and the iBG2006 (less than 50 people office) are targeted at smaller offices.
