President Kagame of Rwanda and Ambassador Juma Mwapachu secretary general of the East Africa Community will open the forum. Also expected are the presidents of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Burundi to address the delegates gathered for the opening ceremony.
Separate focused sessions will follow, with international experts in the fields discussing among other issues, infrastructure development, trade and the movement of goods and services, investment climate, accessibility to finance for development in East Africa.
The Access to Finance for Development roundtable will be chaired by the Rwandan Minster for Finance and Economic Planning, James Musoni, and will focus on new approaches to, strengthening capital markets, commercial and retail banking and new lending policies and instruments for the SME and SMME sector. Other speakers taking part in this session include, Edward Marlow, HSBC, UK, Rupesh Hindocha, Credit Suisse, Dubai and Martin Odour-Otieno, Kenya Commercial Bank.
While improving the investment climate session, chaired by Vincent Karega, Minister of State - Investment Promotion and Industry, Rwanda will address priorities in improving the investment climate by simplifying and harmonising regulations across business and financial sectors region wide. Others speakers lending their expertise to this session include, Omari Issa of the Investment Climate Facility, M'Hamed Cherif, BizClim, Belgium and Stephen Hayes, Corporate Council on Africa, US.
