    2008 EAPRA Conference rescheduled

The planned 2008 EAPRA conference that was due to take place on December 4-5, 2008 has been rescheduled. A new date will be communicated by the end of December.

After PRAR President, Peter Malinga's consultations with the Minister of Information, and considering other factors of national significance which he claims were beyond the organisations control, it has been decided to reschedule to a more appropriate time, to be set no later than February 2009.

"It has always been our wish and plan to host the 2008 EAPRA Conference; we had even rolled out invitations to all the expected participants which most of you received. We had also already attracted positive responses from eminent speakers," said Malinga in a letter addressed to those invited.

"Please note that PRAR takes this conference very seriously and therefore preparations will not cease. We shall maintain the momentum and continue to be in touch with you all and the eminent speakers to confirm their participation. We shall bank on the already expressed support of reputable sponsors and sustain their interest. We shall also count on the government goodwill which is already evident," he continued.

Malinga concedes that it was not an easy decision, and have appealed for understanding and continued support to enable Rwanda to host its first ever regional PR conference.
