The continent has voted and Timi is the winner of Idols, West Africa.
    Timi is tops!

Lagos - Cool and calm Timi proved that he had learned so much from the Idols experience when he took to the stage and performed a heart-stopping rendition of Lionel Ritchie's ‘Stuck on you' during the spectacular finale of Idols West Africa, hosted last night, 27 May 2007 at Planet 1 in Lagos, Nigeria. The young performer received thousands of  votes from across the African continent to secure the crown of Idol, West Africa.

In the search for top musical talent, Idols West Africa judges Dede Mabiaku, Dan Foster and Abrewa Nana travelled to Accra in Ghana and Lagos, Abuja and Calabar Nigeria to listen to thousands of aspiring musicians audition in the hope of becoming the first ever, Idol West Africa.

Idols has been a runaway success the world over and enjoys an audience in excess of 110 million worldwide, generating some 1.5 billion audience votes since inception with Idols West Africa being no different.

Oracle Airtime Sales' Gavin Ritchie comments:  “It's huge thanks to not only our sponsors, but also to a dedicated production team from South Africa and Nigeria and many others too numerous to mention, that M-Net was able to take this concept to sub-Sahara Africa.”

Timi has been awarded a recording contract from Sony / BMG Africa International, US$10 000 from Ecobank, a Kia Picanto from Dana Motors (Nigeria) and a 26" LCD TV and iPOD from headline sponsor, Celtel.
