    Invictus on Facebook

In recognition of the launch of the film Invictus and the ‘95 Rugby World Cup, local South African agency Quick eMarketing convinced Warner Bros to put up the final's most famous picture on Facebook for attendees at the game to tag themselves (or their friends).

“Warner Bros is one of our biggest and most important clients,” says Nic Ray, MD of Quirk UK. “Given our South African roots, we are very proud of the context of the film and were delighted when Warner Bros. asked us to help them promote it. Our idea is simple - tag yourself in a famous picture on Facebook - and help stir all those glorious memories and hopefully get people interacting on the social network.”

An incredibly powerful moment in South African history, perhaps no other photo gets the pulses racing faster than the famous picture of Joel Stransky scoring the winning drop-goal in the dying minutes of the game. Now that that photo has been put up on the Invictus Facebook fan page, users are able to go and tag themselves and their friends in the 50 000 -strong crowd or just drop a comment about their memories of the event (Francois Pienaar has already tagged himself on the field).

Although the final is 14 years behind us, what it stands for, the themes of unity, pride and progression, are still vividly alive as seen by both the film and the comments that are visible on the Facebook picture.
