Cinema Nouveau opens in East Rand

The reach of art cinema is expanding to Gauteng's East Rand with the opening of the new six-screen Cinema Nouveau Bedford on 18 April 2008.

The new Cinema Nouveau Bedford, part of South Africa and the world's only dedicated “art cinema” chain, follows the new boutique cinema design. In addition to luxuriously upholstered VIP armchair style seats, all cinemas feature a number of doubleseat swhich are as good as curling up on a couch with someone special.

“Cinema Nouveau cinemas offer an absolutely decadent movie experience – pure comfort, exceptional sound and projection; and in fact the only way to truly experience the finest art movies,” says Michelle Roodt, marketing executive, Ster-Kinekor Theatres. “I assure you that once you try it, you'll be hard pushed to go anywhere else.”

Similar to its sister site in Cedar Square, the new Bedford Cinema Nouveau has 740 seats and wheelchair facilities. A stylish lounge area in the foyer, along with film and festival information displays, completes the new theatre design.

Every cinema also boasts state-of-the-art Dolby SR surround sound systems – again offering some of the best audio in cinema.

Titles to look forward to in April are The Other Boleyn Girl, Starter for 10, The Walker and My Blueberry Nights, which opens at the end of April.
