The Cape Town World Cinema Festival
This Friday, 30 August 2003, is the deadline for the submission of films to the Cape Town World Cinema Festival (CTWCF), to be held 14 - 23 November 2003.
Submit your film on or before the 30 August 2003. To register, please logon to the Sithengi website, www.sithengi.co.za or e-mail . There is no entry fee.
The Cape Town World Cinema Festival aims to showcase African and more specifically South African films within the context of other "World Cinema" films, meaning films from South America, Asia and Africa as well as films from the Black diaspora and a special focus on films from indigenous peoples i.e. Aborigine, Maori, Native American, Inuit etc.
Enjtries are accepted in the following categories: feature films, documentaries and short films.
In this context films need not be solely from these regions but could also include co-productions or films shot in these regions about subject matter which pertains to those regions and involvement in the making of the film by people from these regions. Through the promotion of top quality international films, the festival hopes to simultaneously place value on African films.
Competitions are also being run in the following categories: Best Feature; Best Documentary; Best Short Film; Best Director; Best Writer; Best Actor/ Actress as well as the Signis Jury Prize.
The festival will be primarily held at V & A Waterfront Ster-Kinekor Cinema Nouveau, screened by Nedbank, and will also have screenings at various open air venues around Cape Town, yet to be confirmed.
Product Market and Screenings
Sithengi's core programmes are the Product Market and Screenings, which deals in the buying and selling of completed products. Products can be entered in the product library for a small fee of R260 = $32.24 US. For screening your product at the market you pay a fee of R1600 = $210.68 US. All products kept in the product library will be available for viewing on demand in special booths. Products entered in the product library also are listed in the special programme catalogue.
The main sponsor for the Sithengi / CBFA Children's Festival is the National Lottery Fund.
