Markex showcases Cape marketing

Markex & World of Events Cape 2006 closed its doors at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Friday, 29 July last week, following a three day run during which over 125 exhibitors showcased the latest marketing, promotional and eventing ideas to key decision makers and buyers from the Western Cape.

Whilst final visitor numbers are still to be confirmed, the show, as in previous years, was very well attended and organisers, Exhibitions for Africa, are more than happy with the overall turnout for the show. Since Markex & World of Events first ran in the Cape three years ago, visitor and exhibitor figures have been growing steadily year on year, reflecting the continuing growth of the industry in the region.

A true 360 degree showcase of inspired solutions to just about every marketing problem - the show encompassed everything from corporate and promotional gifts and apparel, industry associations, packaging and printing, point-of-sale, print and electronic media, signage, stationery, training and education, to stand builders and designers, catering companies, conference solutions, décor & design, event and production planners and producers, entertainment companies, staging, and lighting and audio visual products and services.

Lynn Chamier, Director of Markex & World of Events, was delighted with the feedback received during the run of the show: "The show went very well for everyone concerned once again and our exhibitors appear to be more than happy with the attendance and the level of true business interest that the show now attracts. Our aim has always been to help exhibitors meet new prospects and develop their relationships with existing clients in an industry-focused environment and we have clearly succeeded in achieving this end once again. Markex & World of Events Cape has continued to grow year on year and has now established itself as the definitive marketing, promotions and special events exhibition on the Western Cape industry's calendar."

Awards

The Best Stand Awards for the show were handed out at the exhibitor cocktail party with awards being handed out, as per tradition, in Small, Medium and Large Stand categories.

In the Small Stand category, highly commended awards went to Kurgan Kenani, Cape Town & Western Cape Convention and Events Bureau, Revelation Luggage, Eventage, Carrol Boyes, Bizcommunity.com, and The River Club and Marketing Merchants. The overall Best Small Stand winner was Crack A Cap.

In the Best Medium Stand Awards Category, only one Highly Commended Runners Up certificate was awarded - to Brand Aid - and 369 Designs took home the overall Best Medium Stand award.

And in the third and final category - Best Large Stand - Highly Commended went to The T, Party Design, Specialist Audio Stretch Sets, Kevro, Oasys, Mr Plastic, and Gearhouse, with Scan Display snatching the Winners award in the Best Large Stand category once again. Scan Display solutions snapped up the same award at the Johannesburg Markex & World of Events earlier this year.
