Fruitful flying with Edcon
These include Edgars, Jet, Jet Mart, Legit, CNA, Boardmans, Prato, Red Square, Temptations and Jet Shoes. Edcon account payments through flymango.com will go live during the next 10 days.
The initiative forms part of Mango’s commitment to making low cost air travel more accessible to all South Africans, as well as providing South Africans with innovative distribution channels and payment options.
“In line with Mango’s lateral thinking, innovative approach to air travel and our mandate to make air travel more accessible to all South Africans, the Edcon partnership will see several million South Africans welcomed on board Mango, empowered to purchase air travel without the need for a traditionally branded credit card,” says Mango CEO Nico Bezuidenhout.
Ian Wood, financial services executive at Edcon, explained that Edcon has a philosophy of bringing value-for-money offerings to their customers as well as convenience. Access to Mango flights is the latest in a long line of services that have increased the functionality of Edcon store cards.
“In addition to being able to buy merchandise in any of the 12 Edcon-branded stores, our store card customers can buy one of 11 insurance products and also have access to home loans, personal loans and vehicle finance options at exceptional value. Card holders can use their cards in at more than 1000 optometrists,” detailed Wood. “We see Mango, the low-cost air carrier, as a good fit as it adds convenience to the lives of our customers.”
The Edcon partnership is the first of several distribution channel extensions the airline is planning.
