The alleged cartel behaviour of the bread divisions of Tiger Food Brands and Pioneer Foods may result in millions of rands in penalties to these food giants, writes Business Day. As it involves a basic foodstuff, the investigation into the case, “described by competition commissioner Shan Ramburuth as particularly distasteful because it involved targeting poor consumers,” has been fast-tracked by the Competition Commission.
