Indian company launches ad ringback tones

MUMBA, INDIAI: Indian telecom company OnMobile recently launched Ad RingBack Tones (AdRBT), or audio ads, which target individual subscribers with custom-made ads. A special feature of AdRBT is the fact that ads have the ‘undivided attention' of the consumer, while waiting for the other party to answer the call.

With current mobile advertising solutions, the recipient could delete an SMS ad without reading it or could easily miss the ads on the WAP screen. Real time feedback on the progress of the campaign allows advertisers to quickly react to the market response.

Arvind Rao, CEO and co-founder of OnMobile said, "AdRBT is an evolution in mobile advertising and marketing, which so far has been limited to SMS or WAP banners. Marketers can now create rich, interactive, audio ads which are played straight into an individual's ear for high impact and recall value.”

Callers to an AdRBT subscriber are presented with audio ads, which have been personalised to the caller's profile. OnMobile's AdRBT platform has call-to-action feature which allows interested users to respond to the advertisement instantly with the click of a single key. AdRBT subscribers will receive special discounts and offers from the operator for their participation.

Added Rao, “With users receiving an average of 10 calls per day, advertisers have the ability to reach out to a large and diverse audience in a short period with mobile interactive service (MIS) in real time, which is not possible on other advertising channels".

Many mobile advertising solutions spam users with unwanted ads or generic, not personalised ads, which irk the consumer. With AdRBT, callers are presented with targeted and relevant ads allowing for impulsive response. Further, the audio ads can be in any regional language.
