'Green' gifts

Earlier this week, Barron Gifts launched a new environmentally compliant gifting range at The Forum at the Campus, Bryanston, Johannesburg. The company is bringing its customers the opportunity to offer their clients a full range of ethically produced, environmentally safe promotional products.

It has undertaken a wide range of testing and sourcing of materials to bring the highest quality products to the market, designing and crafting this range with specialists in both Europe and the US. All products have been manufactured from materials that are compliant and safe according to South African and international standards, with over 6 000 product tests having been performed to introduce this range.

Reputation protection

Mark Lachman, head of Barron Gifts says, "There is a huge global focus on environmental sustainability and organisations that do not conform to the highest of standards can suffer damage to their brand. We have seen major international companies pay a heavy price for their failure to ensure the safety of their consumers and especially the negative impact in the media of having to recall promotional products that are not safe. According to Reuters, on 4 June 2010, a major global fast food business made a voluntary recall of 13.4 million drinking glasses in North America due to the items containing excessive permissible levels of cadmium."

Environmentally friendly materials

The focus is on utilising sustainable resources that are recycled and recyclable, reusable and energy saving that will enhance the consumer's relationship with a company's brands, as well as exposing its brands to a wider audience.

Natural elements are utilised as base materials, such as recycled plastic bottles, bamboo, cotton and corn, which give the promotional products a good look and feel. Not only are these natural elements environmentally sustainable but every material used in the manufacturing of the range is made of compliant elements, and in some cases exceeds, the strictest of domestic and international standards.

The new range includes promotional items such as folders, notebooks, pens, bags, drink ware, outdoor accessories, office accessories, novelties, tools and even a wind up torch/radio.

"The company is committed to ensuring that promotional gifting merchandise, both manufactured locally and imported, conforms to the highest degree with established domestic and international product laws and we adhere to and believe in responsible facilities with strict social regulations and standards," concludes Lachman.

The launch took place on Monday, 23 August 2010.
