New winemaker at Delheim
Delheim wine farm has appointed Reg Holder, a terroir-enthusiast, as its winemaker. Holder, who has just spent five years at Neil Ellis Wines, has extensive experience of the Stellenbosch terroir and is enthused by the Simonsberg ward in which the Delheim vineyards reside.
Delheim's new winemaker, Reg Holder.
He feels this is ideally suited to classic cultivars; among them Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and his personal favourite, Shiraz - largely for its natural fruit and performance with minimal oak. Holder is keen to experiment with lesser-known cultivars, such as the popular Gewürztraminer and looks forward to working with dessert wines made in 'traditional style'.
