Huggies Gold rewards mom

In an effort to better understand moms and how they view culture in the 21st century versus how their parents viewed culture, Huggies launched an advertorial series, at the end of 2010, in selected publications using well-known celebrity moms. This included a competition element which encouraged moms to tell their own personal stories about parenting, culture and tradition. The prize was the opportunity to meet one of the featured celebrity moms, Masechaba Moshoeshoe of Mamas and Papas magazine.

The lucky winner of this prize was Rustenburg-based mom Patience Sebako, who told Huggies and Mamas and Papas how she remains traditional groomed yet independent as well as how she balances work and family. "Growing up we were taught idioms such as Mmangwana o tshwara thipa ka fa bogaling which means a mother will do anything for her child," says Sebako. "These idioms have contributed to the woman I am today and keep inspiring me to push myself further."

Moshoeshoe and Sebako had breakfast at the Crowne Plaze in Rosebank, on Saturday 5 March 2011, where they got to know each other better and shared their little secrets to motherhood. The two ladies were also treated to a spa treatment at the Amani Spa. To end off the day Sebako received a Huggies hamper and shopping voucher worth R1500. "I am very grateful for the experience and although I was nervous before meeting Masechaba I had a great time and she is the perfect role model for other mothers," concludes Sebako.
