Nampak Tissue's involvement in this initiative is just another component of their Blue-Green recycling initiatives and is managed by WastePlan, run by Bertie Lourens. WastePlan services 120 000 homes in Cape Town as a sub-contractor to the City of Cape Town and has four years experience in large scale kerb-side recycling projects.

Service is free of charge

"There's no greater excitement than to partner with an initiative that will see people take care of the environment while creating sustainable economic development," says Srini Naidoo, Nampak Tissue's business recycling director.

This weekly service is delivered free of charge to 30 000 homes in Tshwane with the hopes of expanding soon. WastePlan distributes recycling bags to households and residents are asked to place all their recyclable waste in the free clear bags for WastePlan to collect weekly. Material is sorted and then sold to Nampak for further processing and recycling.
