Sydney gets more outdoor

The outdoor advertising contract for Sydney Airport in Australia, estimated to be worth US$75 million, has been awarded to Adshel - a 50/50 joint venture between APN News and Media and Clear Channel - and APN Outdoor.

The new seven-year contract includes approximately 30 external large-format faces and 70 internal faces within the International terminal. Adshel will manage the internal portfolio, whilst APN Outdoor will manage the external.

APN Outdoor CEO Richard Herring says: "We demonstrated how Sydney Airport could be further positioned as a global brand and a more powerful medium for advertising within Australia. We are already working on implementing our recommendations and, needless to say, we are delighted to be appointed by such a prestigious company as Sydney Airport."

Adshel CEO Steve McCarthy comments: "Adshel is very pleased to be part of the winning bid and our close relationship with Clear Channel and its extensive Airports portfolio places Adshel in a unique position to offer Sydney Airport access to a network of global opportunities in terms of format innovation and international advertisers."
