Input on SA cooking required for UK TV show

UK celebrity chef Alan Coxon is dedicating his show, Great Food Live on 27 April 2006 – Freedom Day - to South Africa by cooking local dishes submitted by South Africans. The show will be broadcast on BBC Food (DStv) at 12.30pm -1.30pm UK Time.

Coxon, who has a close relationship with South Africa, is calling on South Africans to provide input by emailing the following information to joanna.strachan@prospect-uk.com:

  • whether or not South Africans celebrate the day and, if so, how?
  • what traditional SA dishes do viewers struggle to make at home?
  • dishes that best represent South Africa
  • foods that South Africans love, and
  • SA dishes you can’t live without

Coxon will read the various emails out on the show.

Coxon has been seen on cooking shows in South Africa for several years and regularly visits the country for promotional work and filming. He has made shows specifically targeting South Africans, such as Coxon’s Royal Feast (aired on BBC Food and SABC 2) and Coxon’s Sporting Feast, where he cooked and investigated the intriguing lives of famous sporting legends like Gary Player.

Coxon will also be in South Africa in July to feature in a lifestyle competition with local health company Bioharmony.
