A new forum for Afrikaans music
A new Afrikaans music channel called MK89 is launching this week on DSTV, featuring music videos, music related chat shows, music request shows and celebrity profiles. MK89 on Channel 89 targets 16-28 year olds and everyone else who listens to 'youngish' Afrikaans music.
The content is mostly Afrikaans, some local English and a bit of foreign music. It is market driven rather than language driven and the broadcast time is 10h00 - 02h00.
The presentation is in Afrikaans, but English celebrities and artists will also appear on the channel such as best local bands, best international rock bands and local celebrities. MK89 will also be seen at rock festivals and University events.
