Dancing backstage

Popular television personality Casey B. Dolan will join the cast of Backstage, South Africa's favourite youth soapie as a dance teacher.

"I have gotten to a point in my career where I try to be more selective over the choices I make. I used to audition for everything and was eager to work on as many different projects as I could. Now I try to follow my heart, so I've taken on the role of Lara Murphy - the new dance teacher on Backstage. I am passionate about both dancing and acting and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to amalgamate these two loves."

Casey, 29, is an actress, dancer; singer, voice artist (she has a talent for mimicking accents) and TV continuity announcer/presenter.

"Lara is the perfect character to launch myself into the 'soapie' arena," says Dolan. "She is strong willed, dedicated and passionate, whilst still remaining vulnerable. There are some very interesting revelations to come and I look forward to the challenges surrounding those scenes."

Casey and Lara debut Backstage on Monday, November 22.
