International news and information channel, BBC World on DStv, is achieving viewership as high as 0.9ARs during its top-performing time bands. This is according to the most recent figures from Oracle Airtime Sales. Amongst the many strengths of this channel is the opportunity for advertisers to target audiences across the African continent.

BBC World provides impartial, in-depth analyses of breaking news and explains the stories behind the headlines. The content also spans business, sport, current affairs, documentaries and lifestyle programming.

"There are a number of programmes to look out for that offer value to advertisers who are looking for a global platforms in the African market," says Oracle's Channel Strategist, Melinda Naicker, "For instance, World Business Report, which supplies the latest business and economics news from the world's financial capitals, eight times a week, is available for
tactical association.

"There is also Sport Today, which is a regular roundup of the world's sporting events, broadcast three times a day, Monday to Friday. Extra Time features an interview of Shaun Bartlett in one of its upcoming broadcasts. These programmes offer an excellent opportunity for media planners to book spots to top up their sports schedules."

Also noteworthy, Naicker says, is Africa Season - a series of programmes, which takes a look at various aspects of African life. A number of different African countries are featured and the subjects covered range from football to film. Meanwhile, HARDtalk remains BBC World's best performing programme.
