SABC 2 - New lifestyle show

Weekend Supplement is a commercial lifestyle and leisure show compiled of a series of product related sponsored inserts segments each produced with an entertaining editorial content. The show launches on SABC 2 on Saturday 3 July 2004 at 09:30 on Saturday mornings.

The show will comprise of four 5-minute slots per episode with bumpers, stings and competition time to make up the 24 minutes editorial time.

It would be up to the client as to how many slots they would like to sponsor over the 6 months. Categories in the show include, food & wine, consumer information, fashion & beauty, health & fitness, motoring, a focus on new product technology, traveling & destinations, kids and home improvement & maintenance,
The show will also be packed with product related phone-in competitions with an abundance of prizes to be won every Saturday morning.

Weekend Supplement forms the ideal vehicle for below-the-line television exposure to a wide variety of clients. Investors are free to suggest, create and develop entertaining and informative product and brand related inserts or an insert series, within the editorial guidelines set by the SABC for the show. The programme further provides the opportunity for prospective to clients sponsor smaller programme configurations, other than the standard 13 part half hour shows, from as low as R33 250 for a five minute slot including the production costs.

Currently in the 09:30 to 10:00 slot on Saturday mornings on SABC2 is the popular gardening show (Down to Earth). This current niche market programme boast peak AR's of 427 000 measured across the all-adults group.

The programme is aimed at the both the consumer and family entertainment market including the weekend shopper.

The cost to participants includes the cost of all aspects of production, as well as the airtime. In each episode the brand names of participants will be included as sponsors on all channel and cross-channel programme promos, top and tail bill -boards as well as the stings.

WEEKEND SUPPLEMENT sponsorship and production is handled by The Full Picture Productions.
The programme is developed and produced by Marius Bakkes of Full Picture Productions who produced of the hit home-décor show, Oulap se Rooi on the Afrikaans Dstv channel, Kyknet. According to Bakkes the response has been great. Major participants, one of them being Cashbuild, have already committed to a weekly insert aimed at the owner-builder. Limited Airtime is still available.
